Tavistock, Devon.

Francis Drake (c1540-1596) was probably born at Crowndale Farm, on the outskirts of Tavistock. The house is not extant, but there is a plaque nearby. There is a section on him in Tavistock Museum, Drake Road, and a statue with scenes from his life at the end of Plymouth Road which leads to Crowndale or at the western entrance to Tavistock from the Plymouth Road).
