I was born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, on 14 August 1968. My fascination with mathematics began with participation in mathematical olympiads. I obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the university of Novi Sad and a Ph.D. from the University of St Andrews where I have subsequently held a series of temporary and permanent positions. Combinatorial semigroup and group theories, in particular semigroup presentations; computational methods in algebra; automatic structures; combinatorics of permutations and words. My current research students are: Nabilah Abu-Ghazalh, Simon Craik, Markus Pfeiffer, Arthur Geddes, Jenni Awang, Alex McLeman, Sam Baynes, James Hyde.
