A (very) short biography

I was born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, on 14 August 1968. My fascination with mathematics began with participation in mathematical olympiads. I obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the university of Novi Sad and a Ph.D. from the University of St Andrews where I have subsequently held a series of temporary and permanent positions. Present position

Professor of Mathematics at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of St Andrews.

Research

Combinatorial semigroup and group theories, in particular semigroup presentations; computational methods in algebra; automatic structures; combinatorics of permutations and words. My current research students are: Jonathan Bagnall, Fiona Brunk, Andreas Distler, Victor Maltcev. For more details see my CV and the list of publications.
